Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much prior notice does Transportation Quotation need to transport my vehicle? [Back to questions]

While most vehicles can be picked up within a few days of placing your order, we recommend at least one to two weeks notice to move your automobile. If you have an emergency situation, call our customer service department at 888.607.1999 to inquire about our expedited services.

  • How much will it cost to ship my vehicle? [Back to questions]

Auto transport is determined by the dimensions of your vehicle and the distance your vehicle is being transported. There are additional fees for expedited services, enclosed transports, and transports of inoperable vehicles. All fees are due upon delivery of the transported vehicle.

  • How long should an auto transport take? [Back to questions]

There are several factors that determine how long it will take to transport your car. The first and most important factor is your proximity to major transport routes. Pick-up and drop-off locations that are close to major interstate highways or located near major cities will likely move more quickly than those located in more rural areas of the country. Other factors in determining transit time are weather conditions, total distance traveled, and in rare instances, mechanical delays.

Below are some general guidelines for transit times:

East to West: 7 to 14 days
South to North: 5 to 8 days
Midwest to East: 5 to 8 days

  • How does a “pick-up window” work? [Back to questions]

When carriers refer to a “pick-up window” they are referring to the window of time in which they will schedule a pick-up. Most transporters have a 2-3 day window in which they’ll schedule the pick-up of your vehicle, but it is often difficult for them to pinpoint a precise time until the day of actual pick-up.

  • What is your refund policy? [Back to questions]

Our refund policy is simple. If we have yet to assign a carrier and you wish to cancel your order, simply call us at 888.607.1999 and we will return your deposit. We strive to provide excellent service; if we do not meet your requirements for a successful move then we understand if you wish to pursue other alternatives for your car shipping needs.

  • Do you have a tracking system? [Back to questions]

Your reference number will allow us to track your vehicle through the various phases of the transport process. You can call or email us and we will report back to you promptly.

  • Do you use terminals or tow yards? [Back to questions]

No, we believe door-to-door service is the safest and most convenient way to transport your vehicle. We feel most of the damage to vehicles occurs while they are switched from transport truck to transport truck or are left at a terminal or tow yard.

  • What forms of payment do you accept? [Back to questions]

We accept Visa and MasterCard, Discover and PayPal deposits. If you are uncomfortable with processing payments via the Internet, you also have the option of mailing us certified funds. We will be able to assign a carrier as soon as we receive your deposit of $150.

  • How do I prepare my vehicle for transport? [Back to questions]

If possible, Transportation Quotation recommends washing your vehicle prior to transport. A clean vehicle makes it easier for the driver to accurately fill out the vehicle condition report. Also, to keep the vehicle near the manufacturer’s specified weight, we suggest transporting it with no more than ¼ tank of gas.

  • Does Transportation Quotation offer any discounts? [Back to questions]

Sure. 1st Call has a number of incentives available to our customers. Call our customer service department at 888.607.1999 to find out more about our discounts for military personnel, repeat customers, and customers shipping multiple vehicles.

  • Can I put my personal belongings in the vehicle? [Back to questions]

Transportation Quotation does not recommend shipping personal belongings inside your vehicle. Please note that auto transport companies are not insured for household goods and it is technically against the law to transport anything except your vehicle. Additionally, trucks are subject to inspection by the DOT and can be fined up to $10,000 if found to be carrying household goods. Under no circumstances can the car contain firearms, illegal substances, or hazardous materials.

  • What should I do if the vehicle arrives with damage? [Back to questions]

Most auto transports are incident free. However, if the vehicle arrives with damage it should be clearly marked on the vehicle condition report, then signed for by the driver. Within 24 hours, a call should be placed to Transportation Quotation and to the carrier to inform them of the damage. We will assist in any and all claims. In most cases the carrier will ask for 2 estimates and send you payment in a couple weeks. If the carrier is unresponsive or unwilling to work with you to resolve the issue, we will help by contacting their insurance company directly.
